Narrative Choice

As a group, we've decided to include two narrative theories in our music video. We've used Binary Opposition, which is suggested by Levi-Strauss. The binary opposition will be the working class, Rural against the upper class and urban. It is important that we include this because the Britpop genre is associated with the working class and Urban areas. For example, Oasis come from a working class background. Therefore, by including this in our music video, it'll look realistic and professional. Also we've decided to add rural areas to contrast urban areas, as well as creating binary opposition. For example, showing the urban areas being plain and artificial. But compared to the rural areas being natural showing the social class difference. This is used in our music video, to show to the audience how there's class inequality. Therefore, this will help our video look professional and linked to the conventions of the Britpop genre.

Furthermore, the second narrative theory we've decided to include in our music video is Barthes enigma codes. This will be shown through the use of the woman (Lucy) in our music video, by not establishing her identity throughout the music video. Also, they'll be a variety of camera shots of her body features but no shots establishing her identity. Therefore, the audience won't know who Luke is singing about. The reason for this is because the lyrics applied in the music video, are about the songwriter 'Noel Gallagher' loving an unknown woman. But the woman hasn't established his feelings towards herself. We decided that this should be included in are narrative, as we can link the lyric meanings into the story line. This would help influence the action part of the music video, as we tease the audience with a variety of camera shots and angels her body features. 

This is an extremely important post as this is needed to help construct a realistic and professional Britpop music video. We've decided to choose two narratives, as we believe that there needed to show our knowledge of the variety of key Britpop conventions throughout the music video. As well as choosing the right shots types and camera angles, in order to suit the narrative.
