Evaluation Question 3

Q. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

From looking at my focus groups, it helped me gain knowledge of what the audiences wanted to see in a Britpop music video. This is extremely important because audiences determine whether or not the music video is successful. We found out that audiences wanted to see a narrative being portrayed throughout our music video. Therefore, we included a narrative linking to the meaning of the song 'Wonderwall', which was an unknown woman, walking away from the main band member' Luke'. As a result of including this, audiences will be interested in our music video.

But also, we found out that audiences thought it is important to include a live performances in our music video. This is because in many successful Britpop music videos. For example, Wonderwall, they include lots of performing shots of the band playing behind the singer Liam Gallagher. Therefore, in our music video we included long shots of the performing band behind Luke.

Also looking back at our focus group, the majority of students said that it is extremely important to replicate the costume that Oasis wear. It is extremely important that we'd replicate this because the costume is one of the main conventions in the Britpop genre. For instance, wearing blue tinted sunglasses and parka coats.

After we finished our rough edit, we carried out a focus group to help give us feedback on our music video. One issue that came up was that they wanted us to correct a couple of lip syncing errors in the song. Therefore, this will help create continuity throughout the music video, but also it will help make our final music video professional. Looking back, we've realised how important focus groups are, in order to create a professional music video.
