Split Screens

We decided to research tutorials on YouTube on how to include split screens on Final Cut Pro. This is because it will help increase the creativity of our music video. We thought that it would be extremely important to include split screens in our music video because this feature is shown in many Britpop music video. For example, 'Wonderwall' by Oasis. Therefore, we decided to include this because it'll make our music videos look professional.

Here are some examples of us including split screens in our music video:

Colour Isolation

Research

In order to learn how to use the colour isolation feature on Final Cut Pro, we needed to find a tutorial video on YouTube. Therefore, by knowing how to do use this feature, my music video will look creative and unique.

It is extremely important that we learn how to use this feature throughout our media coursework because many successful Britpop band's, for instance, Oasis have included many colour isolated shots.

Here are some colour isolated shots that we included in our music video:

Experimenting with fonts - Digipak planning

I've decided not to us this font as my band logo because looking back at successful Britpop band logos, this font hasn't been used in any other band logo, which suggests that it doesn't suit the genre.

I've decided not to use this font as my band logo because its basic and boring. Therefore, I proceeded looking for another font that'll be able stand out and be different to any other Britpop band. Which will suggest that our band 'Under the Radar' is different to any other Britpop band.

In the end, I've decided to use this font as my band logo because It'll be able to stand out in front of other album covers. Also, by the colour of the font being 'black' it connotes the originality of the band.

Editing session 7 - Improvements

The feedback we received from our focus group, after completing our rough edit made us decide that we need to increase the creativity in our music video, which will help our music video look professional and realistic. As a result of this, I decided to include a couple of split screens throughout the music video. This is because from our research, successful bands like Oasis, have included split screens in their music video (Wonderwall) Therefore, this suggests to us that split screens are one of the key conventions of the Britpop genre. I realised that I didn't know how to include split screens on Final Cut Pro, which lead to me researching tutorials for split screens on YouTube. Furthermore, we decided that we needed to include more performing band shots. This is because 'performing band shots' is an important convention to the Britpop genre. Therefore, this convention can't be ignored. Additionally, we decided to include colour isolation in some of our shots in our music video, to help increase the creativity. Many Britpop successful bands have used this feature in their music videos. In order to include this feature, we had to search how to use it on Final Cut Pro it on YouTube. We decided to use colour isolation on the unknown woman's eyes, to highlight to the audience the final clue of her identity. Therefore, this was extremely important that we included this. Also, we included flash affects inbetween a variety of shots. Which helps show to the audience of what 'Luke' is thinking throughout the music video. For example, a photographic memory of his close friend and the unknown woman he loves.
